DESCRIPTION
Poorly designed transfer points can be the Achilles heel in the conveyor system, when excessive spillages and blockages lead to downtown. Where preventive maintenance can help, more often than not, poor design in the transfer point can be the route cause.
Ideally the best way to feed another conveyor is in the same direction, at the same speed with as little drop height as possible, however this cannot always be achieved.
Transfer point and feed boot design with good design principles, such as belt to feed boot ratio as well as selection of quality components such as impact bar and skirting rubber, can lead to a healthier transfer point
